Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

tusalia (Blyth, 1843) - Himalayas from Kashmir and Garhwal east to Assam, Sichuan and south-western Yunnan, and southern in hills of Myanmar to Shan States.
minor Swinhoe, 1870 - Mountains of south-eastern China (Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan) south to central Vietnam (Annam), Laos and northern Thailand.
unchall (Wagler, 1827) - Montane areas of Malay Peninsula, through Sumatra and Java to Bali, Lombok and Flores.
