Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Barbary Dove (Streptopelia roseogrisea), Eurasian Collared-dove (Streptopelia decaocto) and White-winged Collared-dove (Streptopelia reichenowi).

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

dusumieri (Temminck, 1823) - Philippines. Also recorded on northern Borneo. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Philippine Collared-dove (Streptopelia dusumieri).
bitorquata (Temminck, 1809) - Java and Bali through Lombok, Sumbawa, Komodo, Flores and Solor to Timor.
