South-eastern peninsular Thailand south to Sumatra and Riau Archipelago, then east through Borneo and Banggi I (off northern Borneo) to western Philippines (Palawan, Culion I).

Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Horsfield's Frogmouth (Batrachostomus javensis).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
continentalis Stresemann, 1937 - South-eastern Myanmar (southern Tenasserim) and north, western and southern Thailand (south to Nakhon Si Thammarat). Also southern Laos and central Vietnam (Annam).
affinis Blyth, 1847 - Northern Thailand, southern Myanmar, central Vietnam to south-eastern peninsular Thailand to Sumatra, Borneo.
