Subspecies
Sometimes considered to form superspecies with Southern Boobook (Ninox boobook) and Morepork (Ninox novaeseelandiae). Often treated as conspecific with Southern Boobook (Ninox boobook), which itself was formerly regarded as belonging to Morepork (Ninox novaeseelandiae). Species name sometimes spelt, erroneously, rudolphi.
