Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
bodini (Finsch, 1873) - Eastern Colombia east through Orinoco basin of Venezuela, sporadically into north-western Guyana. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Northern Festive Amazon (Amazona bodini).
festiva (Linnaeus, 1758) - South-eastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador and eastern Peru east through Amazon basin to western Pará, north-central Brazil.
