Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.
Status EX
Last record from Ile de Sainte-Marie (Nosy Boraha), Madagascar, was from 1834, although reports from 1930 are unfounded. It is considered extinction. Extinction was almost certainly due to complete deforestation but hunting for its feathers and food and predation by introduced rats may have contributed.
