Vagrant to Israel.

Sub-Saharan Africa; also southern Arabia.

Subspecies
Possible shorter-winged subspecies, chrysochlorus, has been described as resident in western Africa, along with long-winged birds, but short-winged individuals also occur in southern Africa.
