Subspecies
Possibly related, though not very closely, to Brown-headed Barbet (Psilopogon zeylanicus) and Lineated Barbet (Psilopogon lineatus), also to Green-eared Barbet (Psilopogon faiostrictus), and other streaky Megalaima.
