Habitat
Breeds on uplands or tundra. Overwinters on fields, roosting on estuaries and lakes.

Vagrant to Austria, Canada, Hungary (NB), Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Russia (Central Asian), Russia (European), Slovakia (Slovak Republic), Slovenia (NB), Spain (NB), Switzerland, USA.

Eastern Greenland, Iceland, Svalbard (Spitzbergen).

Mound of vegetation on hummock or ledge. Sometimes in colonies.

Eggs (Guide)
4 or 5; creamy-white. Incubation: about 28 days; by female.

Subspecies
Forms a superspecies of Bean Goose (Anser fabalis). Sometimes considered a subspecies of Bean Goose (Anser fabalis).
