A very loud 'woo'o-wao' uttered at the dancing grounds. Also series of far-carrying 'oowaaaa' phrases.

Subspecies
Genus name has frequently been misspelt Rheinartia, and even in past Rheinhardius, Rheinardius, Rheinartius or Rheinhardtius, amongst others.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
ocellata (Elliot, 1871) - Central Vietnam and eastern Laos.
nigrescens Rothschild, 1902 - Mountains in central Peninsular Malaysia, within Taman Negara National Park.
