Subspecies
Forms superspecies with West Mexican Chachalaca (Ortalis poliocephala). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of West Mexican Chachalaca (Ortalis poliocephala).
Population of Sonora was assigned subspecies griseiceps, but it is not usually recognized.
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Like Plain Chachalaca (Ortalis vetula) but belly, untacs, and tail tip are rufous.
